The idea to create this first international, oriental dance yearbook developed during Cairo´s "Ahlan wa Sahlan" festival 2005. The festival features approximately 1000 women from over 30 nations every year. They only have two basic desires: engaging in oriental dance and finding out information about the oriental dance scene worldwide. Oh, what a hassle it used to be obtaining such vital information! It either required purchasing several magazines from the countries of interest, or strenuous internet research.

Mdm. Raqia Hassan and Dr. Mo Geddawi welcomed our international magazine idea right away. Both granted us their fullest support.
